REPORTS TO: Health Communications Specialist, Community Voices Program
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists Communication Relations Specialist in the execution of communications functions to include marketing planning and project management services for the Community Voices Program.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist with:
Planning and coordination of the 2009 Community Voices Freedom’s Voice Conference and Soledad O’Brien Freedom’s Voice Awards Gala
The daily operations and coordination of the communications department
Database to including inputting and updating all established contacts
Administrative functions of the communications department to include meetings, conferences, development of mailing lists and other dissemination efforts
Drafting press releases, media advisories, letters and other related correspondence
Copy editing and proofreading all material produced and disseminated by Community Voices
Website maintenance and content update
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Skill in the use of relevant software such as Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint
Design and layout experience a plus
High-energy, independent worker, self-starter, resourceful and problem solver
Highly-organized, detailed and thorough, creative and positive
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
Ability to maintain effective working relationships
Skill in managing a variety of tasks simultaneously in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
Strong skills in editing and proofreading
Ability to organize and meet deadlines for a variety of job requests.
Ability to work well with a variety of personalities on may levels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate student in Communications, Journalism,
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
Relevant health communications experience.
